managment of poorly controlled hypertension in a stroke patient

55 y/o male, brainstem ischemic stroke, poorly controlled HTN, still smoking 1/2 PPD

CCB: Plendil --> Adalat ORS, Norvasc

Approvel ---> Olmetec (long half-life) already under tried use, may consider Co-Approvel or Diovan 160mg plus diuretics

it is better to have good BP control with the price of polyuria-- patient education

Beta-blocker used in tachycardia HR>70, Consider Concor, Betaloc ?? or Dilatrend (alpha and beta effects)

Alpha-blocker: Doxaben XL
